Posts Tagged ‘Artificial Flavors’

Have you tried out all sorts of dog foods and you saw that none of them is good enough for your beloved pet? Well it is time to take the matter into your own hands.

As you probably know, day after day more chemicals are mixed into the dog food recipes. Some of these chemicals are artificial flavors and colors, preservatives or propylene glycol. Like a human being, your dog needs his own diet and nutritional intake. It is best to provide him with the amount of nutrients and proteins he needs for a healthy life. As every creature, dogs need a balanced amount of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and water. Not all dog food producers give their best to create a balanced product.

Try to feed your dog as natural as you can. Maybe you bought once a great dog food you heard about on TV or saw commercials all over town and when you fed your dog the food, he did not even touch it. Afterwards you left him the full bowl and went to see your show and the other day the bowl was empty.

Well maybe the poor thing got hungry and ate the food due to that reason, not that it was good for him or that he enjoyed it. If this thing happens, do not insist with that same brand. Buy something else; if he likes it, he should be very happy and anxious just seeing the bag in your hand.

Dogs don’t need just dog food for a happy and healthy life. Like us people, they enjoy a desert or a snack. This is where doggie treats come into play. Preparing your dog a little treat will not take long and you will have a greater pleasure seeing him enjoying it.

Cooking dog biscuits for example is very easy. All you need is whole-wheat flour (1 cup), nonfat powder milk (1/2 cup), sugar (1 teaspoon), salt (1 teaspoon), 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of meat granules and 1/2 cup of hot water. Dissolve the meat granules in hot water, cool it and mix it in a bowl with the other ingredients. Knead the resulting dough until it forms a ball. Spread the dough and bake it for 30 minutes on a cookie sheet. Cut it in pieces and serve it to your dog. He will love it.

Another good treat for your dog is Frosty Paws. You can make it at home. Recipes are various for this treat. I am going to tell you my recipe: mix a quarter of a yogurt, a banana, 1 big teaspoon of peanut butter and one teaspoon of honey. Use mixer or blender to get it well mixed. Now freeze it in ice trays; once frozen you can store it in the fridge. Be careful not to serve it too cold.

Premium Dog Food Comparisons

A dog food comparison of many brands will reveal many brands have been recalled due to various quality control issues over the last two years. The Life’s Abundance brand has never been recalled and they would never use the inferior ingredients that were causing some of these issues with the food anyway. When you have a dog you love, it is natural to want the best for them. Their health is important and when you compare dog foods you might be shocked to find out the terrible things that are put into some of the well known pet food brands. Then you look at a premium dog food brand like Life’s Abundance and you will see the differences immediately.

Dog food comparisons show that Life’s Abundance is one of the best dog foods to feed your pet. Evaluate a high quality nutritious dog food brand like Life’s Abundance and you will see the distinction right away. This is one of the holistic and healthy dog food alternatives that all dog breeds love and can benefit from. This product is made in a human grade facility and there are no harmful ingredients or by products like feet and intestines used in other pet food brands.

The first five ingredients listed on a dog food label are very important when evaluating dog food. Look for ingredients that are unhealthy or not nutritious like artificial flavors, artificial colors, preservatives, corn, corn gluten, wheat or wheat gluten and soy. For example Eukanuba uses corn meal which is not easy for pets to digest. It also does not contain fruits and vegetables like the Life’s Abundance brand. Purina One does not contain fruits or vegetables as well as omega fatty acids and guaranteed microbials. It also has three less than optimum products in its top 5 ingredients. The Beneful brand does contain vegetables but none of its first 5 ingredients are very nutritious and Nutro Natural has one ingredient that is not very nutritious in its top 5, but also no fruits or vegetables.

Using the dog food comparison charts make it easy to see that Life’s Abundance has taken dog food to another level and it is making a dog food brand that is as healthy for dogs as it would be for humans to eat. The dog food comparisons all over the internet will show the benefits of switching your dog to a healthy diet that has quality fats, proteins, fruits and vegetables as well as omega fatty acids and antioxidants.

Ingredients that your shih tzu may be allergic to include beef and beef by-products, milk, yeast, yeast-containing foods, brewer’s yeast (as given to shih tzu for supposed flea protection), corn and corn oil, pork, turkey, eggs, particularly the whites. Never give eggs raw. You can try a hard boiled egg. I have given my shih tzu hard boiled eggs without seeing an allergic reaction. Other ingredients might be fish and fish oils. To provide omega-3 fatty acids, which are very beneficial, you should look for foods prepared with flaxseed oil. Shih tzu may be allergic to foods containing wheat and wheat by-products (when in combination with other allergens) and soybeans.

Healthy shih tzu may not have trouble eating most foods, however, if you feed the same food daily for years, there is a potential for intolerance to develop. Any shih tzu can become allergic to any food. It might be a protein source, a fruit, a vegetable and just a small amount of the offending food could cause reactions. Food allergies may present with symptoms of intestinal upset such as vomiting or loose stools.

The best food I have ever used for my lines of shih tzu has been HealthyPetNet Life’s Abundance which is fomulated by a holistic vet. I have definitely seen healthier puppies as a result of using Life’s Abundance in pregnant, nursing moms and weaning puppies. I have witnessed a total “stop” to loose stools and no stomach upsets in the way of “vomiting.” I have concluded my lines of shih tzu must have been allergic to some of the ingredients in the foods I was feeding before. Of course, you might have one shih tzu allergic to wheat and another shih tzu never to have a reaction.

The first three ingredients on the label usually make up most of the contents. Avoid any kind of dog food that contains chemical additives, artificial colors, artificial flavors, sweeteners, chemical preservatives and stabilizers. All these types of ingredients have the potential to cause problems for your shih tzu and give them nothing in the way of adequate nutrition.

I believe a daily supplement is needed for optimum health. Not all shih tzu are created equally, just as not all people are the same. A deficiency in one vitamin or mineral may leave your shih tzu vulnerable to disease. A shih tzu’s demand for certain nutrients fluctuate for many reasons. During times of stress, Vitamin B is great support to the body. HealthyPetNet produces a daily dog food and supplement, which I think is well worth using if you feel your shih tzu is not getting optimum nutrition from the food you are feeding now.
