We are dog lovers. That is why we breed Dobermans. It is extremely important to us that our dogs and puppies are as healthy as they can be. We live with 3 Dobermans and we want them to be a great representation of the breed. We also want them to be with us for as long as possible and enjoy a long, healthy and quality life.
We were introduced to NuVet pet vitamins by another award winning breeder from New York State. We had not been giving our dogs vitamins. We were feeding them premium large breed puppy food and dog food. We decided since the NuVet was recommended by this breeder, we would try it. We are very glad we did.
We noticed changes in all 3 of our Dobermans.Their coats are softer and really beautiful. Our oldest dog had some weight problems but she looks great now and she has more energy. Before she would sit out when the other 2 dogs would wrestle and play. Now she jumps right in. It is really good to see her acting like a young dog again.
When our female got pregnant, we gave her NuVet pet vitamins through out her pregnancy. I am so glad we did because she needed lots of stamina and energy. She delivered 12 puppies without a problem. The last time we whelped her, before we knew about NuVet, she was tired before she delivered her last puppy in a litter of 8. The dogs on NuVet rebounded much faster after the whelping. Her coat stayed beautiful and she got her energy and appetite back in no time, which was crucial since she needed to nurse 12 pups.
One nice thing about NuVet is, it can be given to dogs of all ages. The fact that NuVet has only natural ingredients and no fillers or additives makes it safe for puppies. As we were weaning our big litter, we started adding crumbled up NuVet tablets into their puppy mush. With a big litter, you are bound to have 1 or 2 puppies that lag behind the rest. With the NuVet pet vitamins, all the pups were strong. By 8 weeks, the puppies averaged 18-20 pounds and were all solid and healthy.
Another great thing about NuVet is, the fact that it has so many health benefits. It fights free radicals, which we know are linked to cancer. It provides overall immune system support and reduces the risk of many common ailments. Some of the health problems targeted by NuVet are, itching and hot spots, allergies, arthritis, premature aging, digestive problems and heart disease.
NuVet pet vitamins are formulated so that all the ingredients work together with the dogs system. It was formulated using human grade, natural ingredients over a period of 8 years. Veterinarians, pharmacists and animal nutritionists worked together to come up with the best vitamin available. There is also a NuVet vitamin specially made for cats and kittens.
We feel good about using NuVet to keep our dogs and puppies as healthy as they can be. We highly recommend Nuvet to everyone and all the families with our puppies have continued to use NuVet. You will feel good about giving it to your cats and dogs because it is the right thing to do to insure a healthy and happy dog or cat.

Dog food is essential to your dog’s health care. You have several choices on the shelves in pet stores as well as feeding them with natural foods. The choice of what to feed them is going to be determined partly by the health problems they can exhibit in life. You will also want to determine the dog food you feed your dog on the nutritional value of the ingredients. There are four types of dog food you can give your pet. These include dry food, canned food, semi moist, and raw food. Your vet or dog breeder can tell you what they prefer to use and help you find a brand that has the essential ingredients for both puppies and adults.
Dry food is one of the best choices you will have. Some of the dry food may be high in carbohydrates and processed foods, but you will find overall they contain the most nutrients you will need to provide your dog. Dry food only contains 10% of water in the ingredients making it hard to chew for some older dogs. However the nutrients provided in the dry food is best even for older dogs. You can wet the food down just a little to make it easier. You will also find that the many types of dog foods available include all natural from several vendors like Purina. They have a cheaper line that is not as healthy, but cost effective for the consumer and then they have the all natural ingredients. You will be the deciding factor for health in your pet so keep that in mind.
Semi moist food tends to taste better to your dog, but it would take twice the amount of food you supply with dry food to find the proper ingredients. Semi moist food contains about 30% water along with turkey, chicken, other meat, and vegetables in the processing. The semi food, though not as nutrient rich is often easier for older dogs to eat. It provides a soft material they don’t have to chew as much. You will also find the semi moist dog food is a little more expensive, but not outrageous.
Canned food is the worst food you can supply your dog. It is made with 75% water and the rest is natural ingredients. Like semi moist it takes at least a double dose of the food to provide proper nutrition. You may find your dog prefers the taste and texture, but you are holding back essential nutrients and vitamins they need to be healthy. You can always supply one can of food or semi moist food for a special treat, but for over all healthiness in a dog you should head towards dry food or raw foods.
Raw foods need to be handled with special care. They need to be checked just like our food for problems before feeding it to the dog. Keep in mind that raw food is not going to be cooked like we do to kill some of the bacteria. So you can also be harming the dog if not supplied with top quality raw products. You will need to incorporate vegetables and raw meat in the food dish. You can grind the food into a paste for wet food or just serve the meat. If you are choosing the raw meat option you should talk it over with a vet before doing so. They will be able to help you determine what potential dangers exist from raw meat and vegetables regarding diseases like heart disease and diabetes. Some times your vet will even ask that you change to raw foods for their health.

You have just got your new puppy but it is your first dog and you are not very familiar with all that you should know if you want to have a happy and well grown dog. Surely you have bough him the best dog food and feed him according the instruction given by your vet. However you may not know or underestimate the power of dog treats.
First of all you need to understand what dog treat is. Dog treat id a special kind of food that you should give your dog from time to time usually as a reward. Some dog treats are just tasty and that is why dogs love them. Others are both tasty and healthy as they have special effects for example bad breath remedy dog treats.
The next thing to consider is from where to get some dog treats. This is the easier part as there are various dog treats available in any pet shop. However it may be wiser to prepare them at home.
First of all it will save you some money and second of all you will be sure that there are only natural ingredients in them. You will need to dedicate may be an hour every two weeks to prepare a sufficient quantity of dog treats. Moreover there are hundreds of recipes available on the internet. Just make sure there are no harmful ingredients in the recipes you are reading. Some may include garlic or raisins and these are things a dog should not eat.
Most of the ingredients are quire common, so you will not need to do special shopping just for the dog treats you want to prepare.
You can check with your vet if the dog treats you want to buy or prepare are suitable for your dog’s age. Sure you cannot harm it but it will be much better if you give him things he can easily eat and digest.
The final thing to learn is when to give your dog dog treats. The most important thing to remember is that they are not food. That is why you should not feed your dog with them. Dog treats are meant to be a reward. You can use them any time your dog does something you have asked him to do. For example if you are teaching your puppy to come when asked, every time he comes, give him a biscuit. The dog will remember that and will start coming every time he is asked to.

When choosing the type of dog food to feed your dog, you need to consider his age, breed, your dog’s activity level and also his health condition. For instance, puppies and older dogs will have different types of nutritional needs and you need to ensure your dog or puppy has sufficient consumption of these nutrition for a long and healthy live. It is best if you seek advice from your veterinarian before deciding on which dog food to feed your dog or puppy.
Two most popular choices of dog foods are:
Dry Dog Food. Feeding your dog with dry dog food, usually in small pieces of kibbles, is perhaps one of the most popular choices among dog owners. However, not all dog food brands use high quality natural ingredients. Ensure to read the label of ingredients listed before purchasing any brands of dog food. Here are some guidelines to help you to have some ideas of what the label actually tells you:
No Preservative, Artificial Colors and Flavors. Generally, natural dog food contains no preservative, artificial colors and flavors. Consumption of these components may be harmful to your dog’s health if taken in a long run. Avoid those that labeled “chemical additives as a source of flavor”.
Color. Lookout for the color of the dog food, generally dog food made from natural ingredients is in soft earth tones. Existence of other colors may contain some source of additives.
Type of Meat. Avoid brands that labeled “ingredients include meat by-product”. Choose one that made from natural meat such as chicken, lamb or liver.
Raw Dog Food. According to veterinarian, feeding your dog with raw dog food is the healthiest and the best. Raw dog food contains all natural and unprocessed ingredients. A healthy raw dog food meal usually contains 40% meat, 30% fiber and 30% starch. Thereby, when preparing a meal for your dog, be sure to include some source of vegetables and starch in addition to the uncooked meat such as liver, beef, lamb and etc. Types of vegetables like broccoli, carrots and yams are all good sources of fibers and starches for your dog.

Your dog is indeed your best friend and how you feed him or her is very important. Even small items like treats are very important to their health. They can be used for different purposes. Sometimes you will use them as a reward when training other times just give them something enjoyable just because you love your friend. However you use them it is important to know your choices.
How these snacks can improve and maintain your pet’s health: The most common way is to clean and maintain their teeth. The dog treat should be chewable and encourage your pet to use their teeth. When they do this they will be automatically cleaning their teeth. Examples of these are rawhide (like beef jerky) snacks that take plenty of chewing. Another is a bone that you can get fresh from your local butcher or again in snack form from the pet store.
Any snack you give your pet should be nutritious. For canines protein is the most common as they are primarily meat eaters. There are many varieties of these on the market. They are often in the form of strips and sometimes nuggets or biscuits. Minerals and vitamins should not be forgotten. These are also vital to your pet’s health, and many snacks will include these.
Dog treats come in many shapes and sizes. You can get them in grocery stores, in the pet section or your local pet store. Try to take a quick look at ingredients to be sure that your pet is receiving the best nutrition from their snack and not a whole lot of chemicals. Sometimes there are a surprising amount of chemicals in these products, and the more natural ingredients they have the better they will be for your pet.
One way to ensure your pet is getting healthy ingredients in their snacks is to make them yourself. Remember there is a balanced diet your pet should have in order to stay healthy and happy. 40 percent meat, 30 percent vegetables and 30 percent starch. Exceptions to these catagories are if they are on a vegetarian diet, which should only be done when consulting your vetenarian. There are many recepies on line for snacks and dog food.
As you can see there are many dog treats available for your pet, and even some you can make yourself. Always remember that your pet depends on you to help him keep healthy and happy.

What is Organic? Organic refers to food that has been produced on an organic farm without any use of synthetic chemicals, or GMO’s. Recent studies have proven conclusively that organic foods are higher in nutrient content than conventional foods, as well as being free of pesticide residues, additives and preservatives.
Since the advent of grocery store commercial dog food, there has been an explosion of pets dying from tumors, growths, cancers, and diseases that were unheard many years ago.
I truly believe this has been caused by the unhealthy chemicals, pesticides, hormones, fats and preservatives used to make this cereal based kibble palatable and long lived. Can you imagine eating a dry, cereal like, tasteless food every day, that in fact can sit on the shelf for years and not spoil. Obiously there are heavy duty chemicals and preservatives used to extend the shelf life. It’s like eating sawdust with a chemical enhanced flavor, to cover up all the harmful additives.
Changing to organic dog food, whether it is home made organic, with the same all natural ingredients you eat for supper, or buying the premium high grade organic dog food that has become increasingly popular, is the best you can do for your four legged companion. An organic dog food marked 95% organic meets the same guidelines as organic food produced for humans. The food won’t contain pesticides or antibiotics, and it’s preserved with natural substances like Vitamins C and E. Organically certified pet food is more costly, just as our own organic food is more expensive, but the advantages of superior pet health and helping our environment is worth it to most of us.
Organic dog food, or any organic food for that matter, must be labelled and certified organic, ususally by the USDA, although some states have their own regulatory systems.
Foods with a lot of fillers are cheaper but less nutritious. Just as with human organic food, natural organic ingredients will go a long way toward giving your pet a long, healthy life.
Some of the benefits of switching to organic dog food are: Higher energy, more activity, stronger bones and teeth, and a beautiful healthy coat. – Helps prevent itching and irritating skin conditions, because organic dog food is free of artificial colors and flavor enhancers, chemical additives and toxic pesticides that could cause many of these skin allergies. In some cases completely eliminating these allergic skin reactions. – It is easier to maintain a healthier weight, because organic dog food is superior in nutritional value, and this prevents overeating in you dog as they are more satisfied eating smaller amounts. There are no bulk fillers in organic dog food. – Better overall health and a stronger immunity. Even if you dog seems healthy he/she can still benefit. An increased immune system will help prevent long term, costly illnesses and infections, that may require costly medical treatments. – Quality of life and longevity are increased by feeding organic dog food as opposed to the cereal filled cheap dog food.
Organic dog will be formulated with human grade meat, not ground bits and pieces of animals that are unfit for human consumption, or rancid road kill, as the cheaper store bought commercial food industry uses. Also you should find an organic dog food that boasts using no corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by-products.
Learn to decipher labels on commercial pet foods. They are purposefully deceiving us into buying low grade, unhealthy food all for profit, not for the health of our pet.
To buy organic dog food or to make home made organic dog food will guarantee what you pet is ingesting and give him/her a better chance at a healthy, longer, happier, more energetic life.
